Patterns
Patterns, either subtle or extravert, are beautiful graphical tools that give great depth to every surface.
The idea behind Envelop's Pattern Shop is to allow creatives to design patterns that customers can have printed on the articles of their choice:
1) Choose an article in the dropdownmenu and you'll notice the price changing.
2) Hit 'Add to cart'.
3) After you've completed your purchase, we print the fabric with the pattern you chose and make the item you chose.
Unfortunately, we can't show the pattern executed on every item (that's right, because they are not made yet). Still, to give you a good idea of how a pattern looks like, the dimensions of the drawing, details, etc. we show you the patterns in 3 versions.
1) The version in the shop shows how the pattern would look like if you'd see a 25 cm x 25 cm sample of it.
2) The second version gives a close up: this is how it looks like on a 10 cm x 10 cm sample.
3) The third version zooms out: this is what you would see if you had one square meter of it, or 100 cm x 100 cm.

About colour
Color representation and reproduction both are fragile issues. Three things to keep in mind.
1) Be aware that all monitors (computerscreens) show the same color differently. Also color paper printers will give diverse results, depending on e.g. the ink and the paper you use. Don't expect your textile item to be exactly the same as it is on your screen or your print: there always will be a minor deviation.
2) Moreover, Envelop textiles are made of 100% pure cotton. Unlike for example polyester, which is basically made of oil, cotton is not shiny, but matte. So are the colors. Compare this with the colors of a glossy coated magazine, and those of a classic, luxurious book made of handpressed paper.
Working with 100% natural materials also includes an certain level of imperfection. Sometimes the cotton's surface features a tiny tiny tiny knot, which is generated during the weaving proces but directly affects the printing result, i.c. a little white spot.
Even extensive checkups of fabric quality can't avoid these 'mistakes', but then again, it's a part of - what we consider to be - the charm of a natural product.
3) Finally, Envelop textiles are printed, which means you should not compare them to solid coloured textiles. For example, the black of your metal t-shirt might be a bit deeper than that of the black apron you just received from Envelop.
That's beause your black t-shirt was, all the way, inside out, dyed in a bath of black paint. Printed matter, as you might know from your inketprinter on your desk, consist of millions of tiny dots. Although they do lie very close to each other, they don't lie on each other, which basically generates the deepnes of dyed fabrics.

100% cotton
We think that quality graphics deserve quality media.
Craftmanship gets stronger when matched with pure, genuine materials.
All Envelop products are made of 100% cotton, which delivers a soft, natural, comfortable and noble identity to the finished product.
Our cotton weights 230 gr/m2. It's safely machine washable, even at 80°C if necessary. Ironing the non-printed surface of your item extends its lifespan.
Eco Friendly
Classic, analog textile printing procedures, despite all efforts, traditionally are quite harming for our environment.
Not only do they generate a lot of waste of unused inks and fabric, because of the inherent inaccuracy of the procedure. Also the screens, produced for every single design, wil be thrown away after usage. Moreover, the textile inks that are used often contain harmful ingredients - like solvents - in order to have the color 'sticked' to the cotton.
Envelop's printing procedure aims to think green on every of the above issues.
01. Every drop counts, every inch is used.
We don't like waste. It's bad, economically, but also for the environment. Since we print on demand, we only print what's strictly necessary.
We have no stock to manage, because we don't produce things that nobody ever asked for. This way, no energy nor electricity is spoiled: Envelop textiles are only made when someone wants them to be made.
02. We only work with 0's and 1's
All the products in our shop are made 'of fresh air'. They're not there, only virtually. They only contain 0's and 1's, untill you want them to become real.
The moment someone orders an item, the digital content directly is sent to the printing device. No screens come inbetween, so no screens have to be destroyed afterwards.
03. We only work with water
All our inks are waterbased, which enables our ink-deliverers to use eco-defandable procedures for the production and purifying of the inks.
Moreover, we link our colors to the cotton using steam, which basically is heaten water.
Made In Belgium
Envelop textiles are made in the province of Antwerp, Belgium.
And that's for a reason. Belgium has a long and rich tradition in the textiles and fashion industry.
Medieval cities like Bruges and Ghent were well-known for their textiles industries. Woolen and linen cloth were exported to all of Europe. Flax was grown around Ypres. It was the centre for weaving it into linen - since the waters of the river Lys were suitable for retting flax.
Flemish tapestries were - and still are - worldfamous. Important weaving centers such as Brussels, Oudenaarde, Mechelen and Tournai produced, with unequalled technical precision, the most splendid weaving patterns often designed by famous painters. They were conceived as very popular textile design objects, because the were utilized as 'portable frescoes'.
Centuries later, Belgium still has a vivid textiles scene. The academies of Antwerp, Gent, Brussels (by the way, all located less than 1 hour driving from each other) delivered some of the most renewing fashion designers of the last decades, whereas Belgian technical and engineering schools excel in textile innovation.
