Designer Decline
Your Envelop registration wasn't accepted within 48hrs? That's not cool.
However, we cannot reply to every request with the exact reason for non-approval. Still, this doesn't always mean we don't want to collaborate with you.
If you don't receive an approval email within 48hrs after signing up, this means that the portfolio URL you've provided...
01. ... doesn't immediately show your own graphical work
The URL you provide should immediately link to your personal portfolio. If your portfolio is a part of a creative community website, be sure the link redirects immediately to your profile page, and not to the community's homepage.
02. ... mainly shows corporate graphical work
We might refuse a registration request if the content provided on the portfolio mainly consists of graphics created for business-to-business purposes, like print advertising or corporate websites.
Not that we doubt your graphical skills, but B2B graphics often happen to look quite anonymus. We're looking for the face behind that work, so if you've got another portfolio showing a more personal approach: bring it on!
03. ... mainly shows graphical work based on stock vectors
Same here: it's not that we're against vector based graphics, but since the web is stuffed with free vector graphics, it becomes pretty complicated to see what's original work and what's not.
Let's put it this way: as long as there seems to be a signature style troughout your portfolio, there's no problem for us. If it's rather a compilation of different approaches, your request might be rejected.
04. ... mainly consists of photographs
If your portfolio is focused on photographs, this probably means... you're mainly a photographer, not? We don't doubt your creative skills, in contrary, but this site is exclusively built for illustrators and graphic designers.
05. ... generates loading difficulties
Your portfolio should immediately be accessible. Be sure the graphic content is not too heavy to ensure a fluent loading procedure, and watch out with high-end tech and flash features.
Our site is directed towards textile lovers in the whole wide world - not every internet connection can handle the same dataload as yours.
06. ... needs private login info or can't be accessed publically
To explore your portfolio, we need free access to it. Be sure it doesn't require private login info or a password. This often is the case with Facebook or Myspace profiles.
It's not that because Envelop is represented on these networks, that our vistors are. And since your portfolio url will be shown on your Envelop profile/shop too, it's important that everyone can check out your portfolio.
Now what?
If you'd like to show us another portfolio of yours of which you think it actually does meet the standards stated above, please don't hesitate to mail it to membercare@envelop.eu. We'll be sure to take a look at it, and if it seems ok to us, we'll be happy to review your designer decline.
